Nature of critical current limitation in HTS YBa2Cu 3O7-d films

Abstract


  • Magnetic field, angular and temperature dependencies of the critical current density were measured by SQUID magnetometry, ac magnetic susceptibility, and transport techniques in single-crystalline epitaxial YBCO films. The mechanism of vortex depinning from growth-induced linear defects is shown to describe consistently and quantitatively the measured Jc(H) dependencies. The model takes into account a size distribution of domains as well as a dislocation spacing within domain boundaries. Structure parameters of the YBCO films extracted from the measured Jc(H ∥ c, T) curves and from X-ray diffraction analysis were found to agree.
