CHARACTERIZATION OF ALLOY CARBIDES AND NITRIDES IN HSLA STEELS CONTAINING VANADIUM AND NIOBIUM.

Abstract


  • Three HSLA steels containing V and Nb have been examined in the control-rolled condition by TEM of thin foils and replicas. Precipitation of coarse particles with a high Nb/V ratio occurs at high temperatures in austenite, followed by fine clusters of precipitate, also in austenite. These fine precipitates had a lower Nb/V ratio and contained significant amounts of Fe and Si.
