Elasto-hydrodynamic study of journal bearings with cavitation

Abstract


  • An elasto-hydrodynamic incompressible isothermal laminar study of a specially modified journal bearing with cavitation effects included is investigated. Numerical simulation is carried out by the finite element method. It will be demonstrated that controlled bearing housing deflection can increase load capacity and reduce friction.
