Application of FEM and CAD/CAM in the design of a high performance journal bearing

Abstract


  • A high performance journal bearing has been designed to carry higher load and lower friction than the conventional bearing. Its three dimensional deformed surface is determined by the CAD package Graftek and FEM package Nastran. Once the design is optimised, the CAD package provides input data to a CNC machine.
