INERTIA EFFECTS IN FINITE WIDTH STEPPED HYDRODYNAMIC THRUST BEARING.

Abstract


  • The inertia effect in hydrodynamic thrust bearings are considered here with finite width tapered or stepped oil film profiles. In the analysis, the momentum and continuity equations are integrated across the oil film thickness, and combined to produce the modified Reynolds equation. The oil film pressure, obtained interatively by the finite element method, are compared with others by finite difference method.
