Abstract


  • The performance of two types of hydrodynamic thrust bearings, namely the diaphragm tilting thrust pad and the diaphragm stepped thrust pad, is investigated experimentally under low and high speed conditions. The outlet film thickness and coefficient of friction of these diaphragm thrust pads are then correlated with computed results. (A)
