Análise envoltória de dados: aplicação do modelo CCR e do modelo BCC para a avaliação do desempenho de bibliotecas universitárias de uma IFES

Journal Article

Abstract

  • The growth process of the universities and the consequent development of university libraries make necessary the existence of a performance monitoring system, enabling managers to monitor and intervene in the management of university libraries to ensure the quality of services offered by them. Data envelopment analysis satisfies this need. This technique has two classical models for calculating the efficiency, the CCR model and the BCC model. When they are applied together, it is possible to identify the sources of inefficiency of each unit under analysis. Thus, the objective of this paper is to compare the results obtained through the application of two classic models both oriented to outputs to evaluate the performance of libraries of an Integrated Library System of a Federal Institution of Higher Education, identifying the possible sources of inefficiency. The results are of great value to the managing agency of libraries, since the identification of sources of inefficiency of each library facilitates the planning of corrective actions.
