Abstract
-
Television is a broadcast medium whereby moving images and sound are conveyed by remote television stations to viewers' television sets, either by means of transmission on particular frequencies of the electromagnetic spectrum or through a network of cables. Additionally, the word television can be used as a noun to refer to the individual receivers that convert signals from television stations into moving images and sound. As television became popular in the 20th century, its ability to convey music to mass audiences had a major effect on musicians, audiences, and the music industry.
