Making context work in pediatrics

Chapter

Abstract

  • Evidence-based healthcare is an expectation in the 21st century. However, how do we ensure that healthcare environments and healthcare practitioners are best equipped to make sure this is a reality, and that those who receive healthcare and their families are in the best position to advocate for nothing less than this expectation. This chapter will look at evidence-based healthcare within the pediatric context. Whilst many of the issues relating to the delivery of evidence-based healthcare cross the boundaries of contexts and settings such as appraising the evidence, overcoming resistance to Change and translating such evidence into practice, there remains some key differences in the pediatric setting which will be touched upon in this chapter.
