Respiratory Protection against Ultrafine Diesel Particulate

Abstract


  • This project involved development and validation of a methodology to measure respirator filter penetration using emissions from a diesel engine as the challenge aerosol. The methodology was developed to enable measurement of penetration as a function of both mass of elemental carbon and total carbon, as well as particle number across ultrafine particle sizes consistent with the size range of diesel engine emissions.
