Trio hedge funds Government regulators and the public’s right to know

Journal Article

Abstract

  • This article focuses on a freedom of information (FOI)1 campaign by a group called Victims of Financial Fraud (VOFF), which is seeking information on the largest fraud in Australian superannuation history, according to the Australian Crime Commission. The collapse of the Trio Capital Group (Trio) raises issues concerning the regulators, ASIC and APRA, in the context of what ANU professor of law, John Braithwaite, calls the ‘democratic ideal, incorporating notions of deliberative democracy and restorative justice’.
