A novel normalization method for improving the sensing performance of a self-mixing interferometry

Abstract


  • This paper presents a novel normalization approach to avoid the negative influence of an inaccurate normalization on SMI based measurements. Firstly, a series of simulations was conducted with the frequency domain based alpha measurement method to assess the influence of normalization on the accuracy of alpha estimation. Then, by investigating the correspondence between normalization error and the dispersion of estimation results, we proposed a novel method that rectifies the normalization error by employing the estimation results of alpha. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been confirmed by experimental verifications.
