Dr Mariolina Pais Marden is a Lecturer in Italian and the Convenor of the Italian Studies Program in the Faculty of Law, Humanities and the Arts. 

Mariolina joined the University of Wollongong in 2003, after having taught at the University of South Australia, where she was employed as Cassamarca Lecturer, at the Australian National University and at Denver University.

Mariolina's research interests are in the use of ITC (information and communications technology) and authentic learning tasks in second language acquisition. Her PhD investigated the development and implementation of an online community of language learners through the use of authentic and situated collaborative tasks using design-based research.

Mariolina is the recipient of the 2017 Vice-Chancellor's Faculty Award for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching and Learning (OCTAL) and of a National Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning in 2018.
