Overview


Marcella is an engineer and early career researcher with a PhD in Production Engineering. She has obtained her PhD in 2019 from the Universität Bremen, Germany, funded by the Brazilian National Counsel of Technological and Scientific Development (CNPq). During her PhD her focus was optimization, modelling and simulation in logistics and transportation. Apart from teaching and tutoring Operations Research, she also supervised undergraduate and Master’s students at Universität Bremen. She holds a Master’s degree in Production Engineering from Universidade Federal de Itajubá, Brazil. During this time, she was involved in projects related to waste management and sustainability and was in charge of implementing a selective waste collection system in a Brazilian city. At SMART, her goal is to integrate sustainable concepts to logistics and transportation systems using modelling, optimization and simulation techniques.
