Lim, Jason PhD, FRHistS

Senior Lecturer in Asian History

  • Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities - School of Humanities & Social Inquiry

Overview

I am an historian who is keen on China-Taiwan-Southeast Asia relations during the Cold War, and overseas Chinese history. I worked as an archivist and oral history interviewer before joining academia in 2008. My first academic job was a contract lecturer at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. I was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of History at the National University of Singapore from 2008 to 2010, and I joined the University of Wollongong in September 2010. I have written two monographs on Chinese tea merchants in the Fujian-Singapore trade, and on the Chinese trishaw industry in Singapore. In 2016, I was one of two editors of a book looking at Singapore's history from 1965 to 2015. I was elected a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society in 2022.
