Overview


Jacob Rugare Mugumbate is an experienced researcher, educator and social work practitioner. He is a social work lecturer in the School of Health and Society. Prior to the UOW appointment, he worked in the School of Humanities and Social Science at the University of Newcastle (UON) while researching for a PhD that was awarded in 2017. Immediately before that, he was a social work lecturer at Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) in Zimbabwe. His social work practice in the areas of health, disability and migration has shaped his research. His research centers on social justice in relation to health, disability and culturally diverse communities and the use of indigenous knowledge systems in education, practice and research.
