Overview

"Good design is good citizenship" - this statement by the American graphic designer Milton Glaser resonates with my beliefs and experience as a graphic designer and educator. My research interests and practice reflect those aspects of art and design practice that lead to better social and public policy, encourage social inclusion and community engagement through collaboration, interaction, empathy and partnerships. They include the Migration Heritage Project recording and documenting Illawarra's migrant history and heritage. The "Lure of the Local" digital print series exploring heritage, memory and belonging.

Gregor Cullen's posters and prints are represented in the National Gallery of Australia Drawings and Prints collection, The Wollongong City Gallery and the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney. Gregor Cullen was co-founder of the internationally acclaimed Wollongong design studio Redback Graphics. His graphic design solutions for the Roads and Traffic Authority can be seen on road and pedestrian bridges throughout the Illawarra and Southern Highlands. He was first appointed to the position of Associate Lecturer in Graphic Design in 1993.
