Greg's research career focuses on the exploration of transfer of learning and pedagogical methods used to enhance learning transfer in the wide range of formal and informal spaces where people are physically educated. His research journey began through exploration of his own teaching and coaching practices as a Secondary School Teacher and community coach and continued with his PhD. This study examined how innovative games based pedagogies were understood and implemented in games and sports by pre-service teachers. His present research explores how educators in Physical Education (PE) and Sport develop and implement strategies to allow learning to be transferred and how they assess the success of transfer. Through this research, he has developed a new model to assist develop the content knowledge required to observe, analyse and assess learning in PE and sports environments and current projects are assessing the viability of this model. Greg has expertise in teaching and coaching in PE, especially games and sports and the development of strategies to enhance the transfer of learning in formal and informal physical education environments, community coaching and coach education. Greg is also Academic Program Director of Health and Physical Education and teaches in the undergraduate Physical Education and Sport programs at UOW. He is still involved in coaching sport and coach mentoring in the local Illawarra community and he has developed teaching programs with the National Rugby League, NSW/ACT AFL and Football NSW.
