Abstract


  • We aim to bring together two groups to produce better emitters of terahertz (THz) radiation. THz work at Wollongong is supported by two current ARC-DPs, a 2004 ARC-LIEF and a 2006 ARC-LIEF. The collaboration is supported by a 2006-2007 German BMBF grant. To produce THz radiation, ultrashort pulses strike an emitter. Ultrashort laser pulses are available at Wollongong. Darmstadt has essential capabilities in making emitters not available at Wollongong: facilities to grow low-temperature GaAs and facilities to fabricate antennas on the GaAs. The power produced by present emitters is low. The outcome of this work is to realise more efficient THz emitters through collaborative research involving senior and early-career researchers (ECR).
