Abstract


  • The project aims to establish atomic resolution imaging capability for in-situ transmission electron microscopyinvestigations of materials behaviours under external stimulations including mechanical stress, electrical bias,thermal loading, and magnetic field. This will be achieved through the introduction of special in-situ specimenholders and an imaging detector meeting the special requirements for in-situ experiments. The facilities willprovide critical support for thorough understanding of structure┬┐property relationships of advanced materials thatare vital for materials design for optimum performances and will facilitate strategic collaborations amongAustralian scientists.
