Electron microscopy facilities for in-situ materials characterisation

Grant

Scheme

  • Linkage Infrastructure Equipment & Facilities (LIEF)

Abstract

  • The project aims to establish atomic resolution imaging capability for in-situ transmission electron microscopyinvestigations of materials behaviours under external stimulations including mechanical stress, electrical bias, thermal loading, and magnetic field. This will be achieved through the introduction of special in-situ specimenholders and an imaging detector meeting the special requirements for in-situ experiments. The facilities willprovide critical support for thorough understanding of structure¿property relationships of advanced materials thatare vital for materials design for optimum performances and will facilitate strategic collaborations amongAustralian scientists.
