Abstract

  • The question of how literary texts become authoritative has been central to successive generations of Australian literary criticism. Yet at the very time when research capacity has dramatically expanded, and very recent trends in the discipline demand an empirical base for claims about literary history and literary value, research activity seems to be narrowing its scope. the proposed project will produce new answers to research questions about the economy of reputation-making in Australian literature by providing demonstration applications of data in new electronic archives.
