Abstract


  • The north eastern piedmont of the Flinders Range hosts significant uranium deposits. Uranium isotopes in groundwater are currently being considered as a new tool for uranium exploration: they could potentially allow us to identify high-grade versus low-grade uranium mineralisation. These ideas are currently being tested in a study of aquifers at the Beverley and Four Mile deposits (SA). In order to decipher the processes involved in the formation of uranium deposits and their relationship to groundwater, a characterisation of the aquifers is required. For this reason, we require funding for 14C dating of groundwater samples collected at the study site.
