Abstract


  • The requested equipment includes a new, custom designed optical fibre draw tower to complete the structured optical fibre fabrication facility in UNSW. When completed the new state-of-the-art photonic micro- and nano-structured silica fibre facility, incorporating a new MCVD optical fibre preform lathe currently being installed, will be a cutting-edge centre dedicated to structured optical fibres and novel glass materials. The facility being established at UNSW will support a range of ARC and industry projects in photonics, nanotechnology and environmental related photochemistry. It will replace the now obsolete fibre drawing systems in UNSW.
