Abstract


  • This proposal will create a new tailor-made research facility to study the functional behaviour of advanced materials used in applications such as nanoelectronics, nanomagnetics, catalysis, biosensing, and solar power generation. Based on state-of-the-art scanning probe and vector magnetic field measurement technologies, it enables the study of physical properties from the dimensions of a few unit cells to a few tens of microns, over several orders of time. By providing a unique platform in which both the spatial and temporal properties of advanced materials can be studied, it will allow new examinations of how form and function are linked at the nanoscale, necessary to develop materials and devices with new and improved functionalities.
