Abstract


  • Superconducting conductor is one of the most important emerging engineering technologies of the 21st century and promises to deliver technical innovation in the fields of power generation, machinery, transportation, and the environment. The aim of this project is to develop the deposition technology of superconducting REBa2Cu3O7-x (RE=Nd, Sm, Gd, Y) thin film by means of Metal Organic Deposition or Chemical Vapour Deposition. This has the potential to decrease the fabrication costs of coated conductors and lead to new novel methods and improved performance at low cost for commercial application of high temperature superconductors. The expected outcome is the capability to develop novel methods for 2nd generation superconducting conductor.
