Abstract


  • The project will focus on the development of superconducting magnesium diboride magnets for applications such as magnetic separation and magnetic resonance imaging. To achive these goals, the objectives of the proposal will be: 1. to translate the novel technologies which have already been demonstrated in wire samples and bilk objects to scalable technologies, 2. to develop superconducting joints that will enable magnet operation in the persistent mode. 3. to improve thermal and electrical stability, essential for the operation of magnet-grade consuctors, 4. to design build and test solenoid magnets for applications.
