Abstract


  • The proposal aims to develop a novel, energy efficient technology for the production of low-cost solar silicon by solid state conversion of SiO2 to SiC and further conversion of Si C to form pure silicon in a two zone reactor. the outcomes will include kinetics and mechanisms of carbgothermal SiO2 reduction, SiC-SiO2 reaction with formation of solar silicon, behagviour of impurities in these processes, and the feasibility of the technology.
