Overview


Grace Kennedy is an Associate Research Fellow in the SMART Infrastructure Facility at the University of Wollongong. She is a Chartered Engineer in the Systems Engineering area of practice through Engineers Australia, and a Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) through INCOSE.

Grace is a native of the UK where she qualified with a Masters in Systems Engineering from Loughborough University. She has expertise in Organisational Systems Engineering (modelling enterprises as systems, in particular, the integration of "soft"/human aspects of organisations into these models).  She also has experience in Human Reliability Assessment, Knowledge Management, Bid Proposal Process Improvement, System Ergonomics and Model-Based Systems Engineering.  She is a strong proponent of using systems engineering to improve how engineers deal with complexity in the development and management of systems in a pragmatic and “common sense” manner.      

Prior to emigrating to Australia, Grace worked within the Defence industry for over 10 years; first working as a Systems Engineer within Avionics, Requirements Management and Flight Test at BAE SYSTEMS and later performing research at the Systems Engineering Innovation Centre at Loughborough University.  Since joining SMART in 2018, she has been engaged in many MBSE projects within the Rail Industry including; Track Worker Safety, RAM modelling on ROC, Engineering System Integrity, and the Organisational Capability Maturity Model.
