Yap, Emily Dr

Research Engineer

Overview

Emily Yap received her Bachelor of Engineering in Materials Science and Engineering (Honours Class 1) in 2015 from the University of New South Wales, Sydney. She continued on to complete her PhD in 2020 at the same university.
Her PhD research explored the behaviour and development of an X-ray generator using advanced functional materials, specifically pyroelectric materials.
She worked as a scientist at CSIRO in the Mineral Resources Business Unit where she worked on real-time ore measurement and monitoring systems.
She currently works as a Research Engineer at the Industry 4.0 Hub and is also a committee member of the Women's Research Engineers Network (WREN).

The Industry 4.0 Hub has several focuses:
  • Demonstrate latest Industry 4.0 technologies, such as robots, advanced manufacturing, IoT, mixed reality
  • Engage with schools, communities and the public through the Makerspace and workshops
  • Connect and collaborate with industries, including SMEs in the adoption of the latest technologies
