Dr Darren Mayne is a public health epidemiologist with the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District and honorary fellow in the School of Medicine, University of Wollongong.
Darren’s goal is to improve the health and wellbeing of communities through high-quality population, primary and public health translational research. His research focuses on the application of geospatial methods to public health practice and research, including outbreak and cluster investigation, risk-factor epidemiology, disease surveillance, and built environment influences (e.g. walkability) on health behaviours and outcomes.
Darren is co-lead investigator on the SIMLR Cohort Study — a collaboration between Southern.IML Pathology, Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute (IHMRI) and the University of Wollongong investigating the geographic distribution of health risk indicators (e.g. at-risk body mass, glycated haemoglobin, serum cholesterol levels) in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions of NSW.Degree | Research Title | Advisee | |
