Overview


Carole Birrell is currently a Senior Lecturer in the National Institute for Applied Statistics Research Australia (NIASRA) within the School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics at the University of Wollongong.  She has a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in statistics from the University of New South Wales, and from the University of Wollongong she holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, a Master of Statistics and a PhD (Statistics).   Her PhD involved the seasonal adjustment of disaggregated time series using multivariate modelling. 

After her PhD, she worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UOW on the DYNOPTA project:  The Dynamic Analyses to optimize Ageing - which involved the analysis of the combined data from nine longitudinal studies.  In 2010, she was appointed as a Lecturer in the School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics.  Her work with NIASRA includes lecturing undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervising postgraduate PhD and Masters students, collaborative research and statistical consulting to external clients. 

Her research interests include: missing data; analysis of complex survey data; combining surveys; statistics education.
