Outreach Overview

  • As an academic activist, I use academic methods to advance the causes of social justice. I focus on decolonisation movements within Melanesia, specifically, the struggle for independence from Indonesia by Indigenous West Papuans and the struggle for independence from France by the Indigenous Kanak people of New Caledonia. I work closely with people within those decolonisation movements to listen to their stories, their experiences, their hopes and plans, and I attempt to amplify these in my work and to propose political recommendations that put pressure on implicated governments and influential actors to become involved in finding just resolutions.
