Honorary Professorial Fellow

Overview

I have a broad background in comparative physiology that has focused on physiological appraisal of animal life history. This research uses an integrative approach that combines many disciplines: physics to quantify the physical environments of animals, physiological assessment involving endocrinology, biochemistry, immunology, metabolism and free-living energetics, and ecology to place these interactions into an evolutionary context. Current projects include examining the interactive effects of malarial infection status and life-history stage on the aerobic capacity and exercise  performance of Afro-European long-distance migrating passerines.
