Anne's research and teaching have one focus: improving education. She has taught introductory statistics to students from a wide variety of disciplines: computing, business systems, engineering, science, psychology and law. She has taught small classes and large.
Her focus on improving education has encompassed: activity based learning, learning to learn, building on students' natural thinking processes. She constantly searches for and researches ways to engage students in learning, not just in learning statistics, but in the arts of learning how to learn, learning to express themselves and understanding and writing in mathematical language, working in teams. She experiements with different learning designs and technologies such as video production, elearning and remote access.

She is currently working with her former PhD students and colleagues to help improve mathematics education, building leadership capacity and networks with developing countries, along with this she is starting to learn Indonesian.
