Overview


Associate Professor Anne Collett is a member of the English Literatures and Creative Writing Program in which she teaches Romantics, Victorians, Modernism and Honours English. She has published extensively on postcolonial literatures, with a focus on Caribbean, Australian and Canadian poetry including essays on Olive Senior, Kamau Brathwaite, Judith Wright, Claude McKay and Pauline Tekahionwake Johnson. She is currently completing a monograph (with Dorothy Jones) on gendered colonial modernity – a comparative study of Judith Wright and Canadian artist, Emily Carr.

Anne edited Kunapipi: journal of postcolonial writing & culture from 1999-2012; all issues from 1979 are available (open access) at https://ro.uow.edu.au/kunapipi/ She has edited 8 books, most recently: Romantic Climates: Literature &  Science in the Age of Catastrophe (with Oliva Murphy, in press, Palgrave Macmillan), Postcolonial Past & Present (with Leigh Dale, 2018, Rodopi/Brill), Tracking the Literature of Tropical Weather (with Russell McDougall & Sue Thomas, 2017, Palgrave Macmillan), Dissenting Lives (with Tony Simoes da Silva, 2015, Routledge) and The Unsociable Sociability of Women’s Lifewriting (with Louise D’Arcens, 2010, Palgrave Macmillan).

Anne was the Professorial Chair of Australian Studies at the Universities of Tokyo (2011/12) and Copenhagen (2014/15).
