Overview


Anil earned his PhD in International Organisational Behaviour and Management from the University of Sheffield (UK). His research work is published in several international journals such as International journal of Manpower, Employee Relations: International Journal, Thunderbird International Business Review, Australian Accounting Review, Corporate Ownership and Control, International Employment Relation Review, International Journal of Management, and a number of proceedings of international conferences. 

Anil has also gained extensive teaching, research, and academic governance experience in a number of different countries and universities, which include Sydney Business School, University of Wollongong in Australia, University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom, and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, University of Colombo, and the University of Moratuwa in Sri Lanka. He has also served in a number of accredited international universities attached to the University of London, University of Wales, and the Staffordshire University in the United Kingdom. Anil has taught Organisational Behaviour, Managing People in Multinational, International Business Strategy, International Business Environments, Strategic Management, and Performance Management. 

During his career of 25 years, Anil has also held a number of governance positions such as Head of School, Program Director (Master of International Business), Senior Research Fellow, Course Coordinator, Preliminary Investigation Officer, Students Counselor, Examiner of Masters' and Doctoral level theses, Management consultant, Staff trainer, and Advisory board member of a number of private and public sector institutions.

Anil has won awards for the best journal paper (2012), the best conference paper (2014 & 2009), 'senior research fellowship" (2004-2005) and ESDF grant for teaching and learning strategies (2013).

Research Overview


  • My current research is mainly focused on global business strategies and leadership, organisational and individual factors affecting performance of domestic and international firms in different countries. My approach to organisational research is process, interdisciplinary and the mixed method. The individual elements of current research vary from work and cultural values and ethics, psychological wellbeing, personality dimensions to profiles of employees and leaders. The strategic leadership covers the areas of CEOs profiles, succession management, corporate governance(covering codes of conduct, ethics/CSR/sustainability), climate change responses. Task, citizenship and company level performance represent the performance indicators of current projects.
