Overview


Ananda is originally from Sri Lanka, he first came to Australia for reading his Ph.D. at University to Queensland. He gained his Ph.D. in Strategic Management and worked for Institute of Technology in New Zealand and Central Queensland University before he joins to UOW. Currently he teaches Global Strategy and International Business. He has over 20 years of work experience in high education sector over 5 universities in 4 countries. His passion for learning and teaching is inspired by active and transformative learning. Ananda is primarily a qualitative and interdisciplinary critical researcher especially in the areas of identity, power, politics, entrepreneurship, international business, strategy and inequality in society and organisations. He also has experience in the industry as trainer and consultant in strategic planning and entrepreneurship and new venture development.

  • Ananda’s passion for learning and teaching is inspired by active and transformative learning. He encourages and empowers students to think critically, by challenging opinions, unstated assumptions, theories and practices to understand idiosyncrasies and multiple realities of context. Over 20 years of his practice, Ananda has been a great mentor to students and lecturers, as he has the ability to give effective advice on critical student issues and problems. His teaching not only broadens the knowledge base of students but also builds their imagination and confidence, and encourages them to think ‘outside the box’ and to strive to succeed.
