Research Overview

  • I am a human geographer specialising in industrial landscapes and the extractive industries. My research examines the making and un-making of industrial landscapes, overlapping and contrasting perceptions on landscapes, and nonhuman contributions to landscape alterations. I have a particular focus on minerals, soils, rocks, and the subterranean.

I have a background in design and museum studies, and an ongoing professional practice in visual communication. I bring an uncommon approach to my research by combining geographic research methods with contemporary communication and design practice.

    Current research project:

ARC DP 'Continuity and Change in the Australian Industrial Landscape': looking at Port Kembla's evolution as a hybrid industrial-infrastructural landscape (Associate Research Fellow with Profs Chris Gibson and Lucy Taksa [Deakin], Dr Chantel Carr, Dr Andrew Warren and Prof Steven High [Concordia]).
