Overview


Alan has worked in a range of industries in Australia and internationally, including education, airlines, and tourism. His MBA was in services marketing. His PhD focused on corporate social responsibility (CSR) from a marketing communication perspective, examining how advertising messages that emphasise brands’ CSR claims might be met with scepticism, and how message structure can reduce this scepticism and enhance persuasion. He is published in a range of international academic journals and texts, including the Journal of Business Ethics, the Australasian Marketing Journal, and the Journal of Sustainable Tourism. His most recent research focus is in the confluence of marketing and sustainability

While working in the Middle East, Alan was a regular contributor to Gulf Marketing Review, the trade marketing magazine for the Middle East and Gulf States, and the Business section of The Gulf News.
