I am a Group Leader of the Genetics and Immunology Research Laboratory (GIRL) in the Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health at the University of Wollongong. I have been a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the School of Chemistry and Molecular Bioscience/School of Science at the University of Wollongong for 6 years. My background is in transplantation, immunology and genetics. My research focuses on blood cancer, and a major complication of blood cancer treatment known as graft-versus-host disease. We use preclinical mouse models to examine immune responses, and therapeutic strategies that reduce graft-versus-host disease while retaining graft-versus-leukaemia responses. This research has been supported by a Cancer Council NSW grant (2019-2022). I have supervised 5 PhD students, 16 Honours students, MRes Project students, undergraduate students and Research Assistants. I am an advocate for Early-Mid Career Researchers (EMCRs) and am Chair of the School EMC Advisory Group and have been on the Faculty and IHMRI Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) committees.
