Dr Dawoon Jung joined the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS) at the University of Wollongong as a Lecturer in June 2023. She is also an Associate Editor of the Asian Journal of International Law.
Dawoon holds a Ph.D. in Public International Law from the University of Edinburgh, which was funded by the College of Humanities and Social Science Research Studentship. Her first book, titled “The 1982 Law of the Sea Convention and the Regulation of offshore renewable energy activities” was published with Brill Publishers in September 2023.
Prior to joining ANCORS, Dawoon worked as a Research Fellow in the Ocean Law and Policy team at the Centre for International Law at the National University of Singapore, where she focused on various projects relating to international shipping and the marine environment. She also served as an intern at the Legal Office of the ITLOS in 2014.
Her research interests lie in the broad fields of the law of the sea, international environmental law, climate change law, and international shipping. Her current research focuses on how to regulate the impacts of climate change-related technologies on the marine environment.
