As the Chemical Charactersiation Facilty Manager, I administer all operations of the Facility which includes a large suite of specialised state-of-the-art mass spectrometers and many associated pieces equipment (liquid and gas chromatorgraphy) , nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometers, liquids chromatography equipment and a suite of other equipment dedicated to chemical and biochemical charaterisation (e.g X-ray, circular dichrosim,...) worth over AU$15 M. These sophisticated pieces of equipment require constant attention and my exceptional skills in infrastructure and instrument management have ensured that all equipment in the facility remain in excellent working order with minimised downtime through effective preventive maintenance, rapid troubleshooting of issues as they arise and liaison with engineers for timely repair.

Aside form my managing duties, my personal research utilise mass spectrometry and allied techniques (GC, HPLC and UPLC) to answer a range of different research questions with a clear focus on the development of new methods for the detection and quantification of chemicals in a range of different matrices. The core of my reserach focusses on the chemical composition of vaping products (nicotine and other bioactive vapes), and nicotine containing products available to users on the Australian market.
