Dr Amir Beheshti is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Chemistry and Molecular Bioscience, University of Wollongong (UoW). He completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Queensland, where he investigated polymer brush-grafted colloids as lubricant additives.

Prior to joining UoW, Amir worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of South Australia and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Enabling Eco-efficient Beneficiation of Minerals. His work focused on using surface-sensitive techniques such as atomic force microscopy (AFM) and quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring (QCM-D) to study the adsorption and interaction of (bio)polymers and surfactants, with the goal of enhancing mineral floatability.

At UoW, within the Steel Research Hub, Amir collaborates with BlueScope Steel to investigate the properties of coatings and nanomaterials. His research integrates principles of colloid and interface science with physical chemistry to support the development of advanced coatings. One key activity is the development of nanostructured and stimuli-responsive coatings derived from natural polysaccharides. The overall aim is to design environmentally friendly and tunable thin films for applications in biomedical devices, drug delivery, and biocoatings, enabling controlled interactions at the biointerface.
