BIO

Adam is an Honorary Senior Fellow in the School of Psychology at the University of Wollongong and is a member of the Australian Centre for Electromagnetic Bioeffects Research (ACEBR) human neurophysiology research group. After finishing an honours degree in Psychology at the University of Wollongong in 2013, Adam successfully completed his PhD in 2018. Adam's research has been focused on understanding how environmental factors affect health, brain function, cognition, and emotion processing. His PhD investigated the determinants of Idiopathic Environmental Intolerance attributed to Electromagnetic Fields (often called Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity), and his postdoctoral work extended these investigations to examine the broader mechanisms underlying the nocebo effect (the fascinating 'evil twin' of the placebo effect). Beyond his core research, he has strong interests in behavioural insights, psychophysiology, and health psychology. He has also contributed to national guideline development groups that have directly shaped Australian health policy on sleep and screen time recommendations, collaborating with partners in academia, industry, and government to improve health and wellbeing for Australian children and adolescents.
